The Roger Hotel, New York
Madison Avenue is one of my favorite streets in New York City. It’s also the one I travel the most on. I pass by the Roger hotel (formerly Hotel Roger Williams) almost everyday, and was quite excited about their recent renovations. The NoMad neighborhood has its gems, and this is one of them. So, when I was invited to experience the new Roger, I graciously accepted.
Our first stop is into their new lounge & mezzanine restaurant, Parlour. To start, I decided to try The Roger, their signature cocktail — a mix of strawberry puree, chocolate bitters and their house champagne, crafted by mixologist Johnny Swet. The rest of the cocktail menu was so tempting, including the Cucumber Vesper and XXX Dirty Martini made with Tobasco sauce!
Let it be known, that if you ever find yourself hungry in the area or staying at this hotel, order the Soda Dipped Fried Chicken, which comes with Sriracha honey and sumac yogurt dipping sauces. Another great item to try? The Oyster Po Boy.
For my main dish, I had to order the Flat Iron Steak sandwich, medium rare, with fries and some light Macaroni and Cheese. I can never go wrong with a steak sandwich, but the arugula and garlic aioli really hit the spot. Comfort food is always so welcoming when you are traveling. If you have room for dessert, try their Ice Cream Sandwich. I ordered mine with chocolate ice cream, sandwiched between two chocolate chip cookies. Perfect ending to a delightful meal.
Here’s when the fun really begins. To start burning off the meal, I got to take a tour of the hotel’s new rooms and space. Everything has gotten a sophisticated, yet modern facelift. When choosing a hotel to stay, decor is everything for me, especially in boutique accommodations.
P.S. Thank you so much to the team from the Roger for such a wonderful experience.
