It feels like déjà vu all over again. This New York Fashion Week for me was all about the road less traveled. I’ve taken to my iPhone again to capture some of the memories and outfits from the week, as seen on my Instagram. Echoing so many of the sentiments published, I took it easy this season and watched a lot of the shows via livestream or scoured post-runway images Style.com. My NYFW was still as unique and amazing as an experience ever, though!
I based the outfits I wore around my mood and events I was attending. On the first day, I went for a daring look with prints and a crop top. There’s always an abundance of energy and enthusiasm on the first day, so my look was reflective of that. The next day, I was scheduled to attend a streetwear presentation, so I took that as a sign to channel my inner sporty self. My third outfit is my favorite. Mostly because it’s black and white, but I’m wearing my favorite pieces from the closet. Although, the last outfit here isn’t the last one I wore during NYFW, it was the last one documented. I perked up my casual wares with interesting textures, prints and hemlines.
My week was a nice mix of attending shows, visiting lounges and indulging at events. Some highlights include the Hard Candy beauty lounge, Glam Media dinner (as always), and the Betsey Johnson show (first time!). This season was a lot of supporting old designers and exploring new brands. Of course, whenever the opportunity arises, a photobooth session is a must!
In the middle of the week, I changed gears and went backstage. I worked in wardrobe for the three shows above and the experience was unreal. I dusted off some of my styling skills with all the pin, tuck, tape and steaming involved. These are also the models and looks I worked on and I’m still gleaming with excitement. Photos from Style.com because there was no way I could take pictures. The action was just split-second crazy. (I have plenty of backstage stories, lol)
So that was my fashion week. A great mix of everything glamourous.
And… the real reason for using my iPhone as a camera? To dedicate more time and resources in making this video ;);)
