There’s nothing more liberating than cruising the open waters. It’s even better when you are the one behind the wheel. Thanks to Aquaworld, I took the Jungle Tour and checked off something that’s been high on my bucket list.
On my first day in Cancun, after checking into Moon Palace, I took a taxi over to Aquaworld. Luckily for me, I got to squeeze in some great activities before the conference and meetings started, and the Jungle Tour was the first among them. It’s only a two hour and fifteen minute tour, but it was seriously the most fun I’ve had in my time in Cancun. Not only did I get to drive a speedboat, but we went snorkeling, too.
After we got into our gear and into the speedboats, a guide gave us a quick how-to on operating the thing. Then, it was just us and the ocean. We sped through the mangrove jungle in Nichupte Lagoon and toward the reefs of Punta Nizuc. We anchored and swam out into the corals to play with the sea creatures. The water was amazingly warm and calm — making the snorkel experience super relaxing. Highlight of the swim? Seeing a nurse shark hiding under a reef!!!
Say hello to Nadine! I met her at Aquaworld and we became fast friends.
Speedboat line up.
Ready to dive in!
Hey fishy fishy…
By the way, all photos taken on my iPhone 5 since my GoPro batteries died.
It’s a whole other world down here.
Can you make out the nurse shark?
I just love snorkeling…
