Headed out East for some great food/drinks (oysters!), kayaking and scenery.
Right before I started NYFW activities, I went to the Blue Island Oyster farm with Blue Point Brewery. If you know me, I love love love to indulge in oyster happy hour! We took a bus out to Captree State Park on Long Island (near Fire Island) to see where it all happens. Before we kayaked over to the actual farm area, we grabbed some drinks and of course Blue Point oysters. Following the nice paddle out to see where the oysters are raised, we were treated to a delicious lunch. The menu by Chef Steve Rizzo was paired with different brews from Blue Point. My favorite has to be the dessert stout, the New York Oyster Stout. There were hints of chocolate and salinity in it — like sea salt chocolate bars, hehe. Lunch consisted of scallop ceviche, littleneck clams in lemongrass broth and halibut with spaghetti squash + tomato confit.
