I did a little shopping at Sephora, recently. My lips were falling victim to the cold dry weather so, I went in to purchase the Dior Crème de Rose to try. Like many previous excursions, I end up getting more than I came in for.
I normally stay far away from any lip products that would enhance my lip shape, but I trust the Dior brand. It’s been one of my go-to’s for various beauty needs over the years. I was in the market for new lip balm, and this does not disappoint! The plumping is very very subtle — natural, if you will. The light rose scent and pretty pink color makes my morning lip prep feel so much more ladylike. You know Dior does that to a girl! This applies so smoothly and isn’t oily feeling at all. My lips feel fully hydrated. So many lip balms just doesn’t cut it for me/I’m allergic to. I’ve been on the hunt for a less expensive replacement of my La Mer lip balm (holy grail) and I’m so happy to say that this is it.
YVES SAINT LAURENT Rouge Volupté in Opera Rose 29
This makes my first YSL lipstick! I wasn’t sure which color to choose, so I went with a pink that I can easily wear with any outfit. Cost per wear, people! But, mostly I wanted to get this because of the fabulous packaging. This is definitely something I want in my bag and on my vanity. The lip color is so pigmented and glides on buttery. It reminds me of the Korres lip butters in terms of texture, which is a bit too creamy for me. The color, as huge of a payoff, doesn’t last too long, but this is a great asset in the winter because of the moisture it provides.
MARC JACOBS Lip Gel in Have We Met 108 & Moody Margot 106
New kid on the beauty block, so I wanted to give them a shot. What is a lip gel? I kind of wanted to find out. I brought the pink one with me to Maine, and it has now become my everyday favorite. The sleek packaging and magnetic closure makes it feel like such a luxurious item to have. The colors are intense, and it surprised me how much showed up on my lips. In my mind, for some reason, a gel lipstick would provide less color?! It glides on smoothly and is lightweight. As someone who doesn’t wear nude lips too often I found this one extremely pretty on. It mixed very well with my own lip natural hue for a soft creamy coat of color that does not overwhelm.
