Now that the weather is super chilly and the rain seems to have made itself a home, it's really time for me to break out the trench. I'm quite particular with the type of coats I like to wear because when you go out, it's all anyone sees! What I look for is something with major details on it, either something leather sleeving, fit and flare silhouette, special collar shape, cool hardware or fun buttons. I'm also a big fan of trenches that are in other colors other than the traditional khaki. When you have to cover up your outfit, might as well have standout outerwear. Which leads to the lovely one I'm wearing by Steve Madden. It is still available on Macys.com along with many other items from their Fall amazing coats selection.
This trench coat meets so many of my criteria! First, I love the over silhouette of the coat -- femminine, actuates the waist and flares out like a skirt. The back also has nice pleat slits so the trench moves with you, not to mention it makes it look more girly. It also has unique collars: asymmetrical portrait collars, but my favorite part about this coat is the leather belt that really makes it standout from the other trenches in the crowd. It's attached, so I never have to worry about losing it, something I always have to worry about because I run around too much with my jackets open. This is also a zip trench. I prefer zippers to buttons because of warmth. I feel like buttons = more draft. Overall, I'm really excited to be whirling and twirling in this trench coat.
Can we also talk about oxblood? I think I need to save that for another post. I am seriously collecting a lot pieces in that color...
